LVE No Longer Accepts American Express
(May 3, 2016) Afton, WY – At Lower Valley Energy, we constantly look for ways to keep costs down. This focus on keeping costs down has allowed Lower Valley Energy to have the lowest residential electric rates of any cooperative in the country. While maintaining competitive electric and gas rates is a priority, we still focus on providing safe, reliable energy, with great customer service.
A recent review of the fees we pay for allowing customers to pay with credit cards revealed that we pay a significantly higher rate for American Express cards than other types of credit cards. We determined that not taking American Express cards for payment would save our members over $74,000 per year.
Beginning July 1, 2016, we will no longer accept American Express cards for payment of bills. Fortunately, we still offer a number of convenient ways for you to pay your bill:
- You can still pay with a Visa, Mastercard or Discover card.
- You can arrange a payment to be debited directly from a checking or savings account.
- You can pay with check or cash.
As a cooperatively-owned utility, we recognize the importance of providing good customer service to our members. We also want to keep your rates as low as possible. We believe the change we are making will allow us to continue to do both.
