PrintDecember 29, 2025(Afton, WY) The Lower Valley Energy Board of Directors has approved an adjustment to our natural gas rates, effective February 1, 2026. This increase to $1.3576 per residential therm reflects the volatile nature of natural gas commodity markets.
Just three months ago, we were able to decrease rates as we entered the heating season – a decision that provided welcome relief to our members. However, continued cost pressures are forcing an upward adjustment to maintain Lower Valley Energy’s system reliability and financial stability.
The rate increase underscores the unpredictable nature of energy markets and our commitment to adjusting rates in both directions as conditions warrant – not simply when costs rise, but also when savings can be passed along to our members.
As a member-owned cooperative, Lower Valley Energy operates on a not-for-profit basis which helps maintain competitive rates. Every decision we make prioritizes the long-term interests of our members. We continue to:

- Seek cost-effective supply options and operational efficiencies
