Cybersecurity Incident

AFTON, WY (December 19, 2023) We at Lower Valley Energy are committed to providing excellent service to our member owners while keeping their information secure and reliable. We are writing to inform you that over the weekend, our computer system suffered an incident that was immediately shut down by our cyber security systems. We are currently investigating the extent of the incident, but we strongly believe no customer information was compromised. We are working diligently to return all computer systems to normal communications and will keep you informed of developments.

We are committed to keeping your private information secure, and we will continue to work with industry authorities to investigate the issue. We have firewalls, offsite storage and a third-party disaster recovery provider. Safeguards enacted years ago have protected you, our member owners and we will continue this vigilance.

At Lower Valley Energy, our primary concern is the safety of our member services and energy systems. We take reliability seriously and are constantly repairing wear-and-tear, upgrading our equipment to withstand storms and severe weather, and using technology and best practices to keep our system secure from cybersecurity issues. We work together with co-ops across the country to develop new technologies and infrastructure, learn from each other, and keep the grid’s cyber network secure.
